spalted willow wood, scorched, watercolor paint, tung oil
[4½" H x 6" diameter]

This was made from a piece of heavily spalted willow wood. I used a torch to scorch the top rim and, to a lesser degree, a band underneath the top rim. Then I smeared full strength purple watercolor paint direct from the tube around the top and bottom rims. The piece was finished with tung oil (with a gloss additive for the rims).
