This is a baby toy which is fun to feel and manipulate. It's smaller than it looks in the photo and works well with tiny hands. It's made from katalox. This is a very dense wood but cuts cleanly, so it was fun to work. The light part of the wood is the sapwood, and the dark part is the heartwood. This piece of wood also had a very visible, almost black, boundary between the sapwood and the heartwood, which I love.
