This piece was inspired by the heavy steel truss bridges around Chicago. It's often surprising how different the wild areas beneath the bridges can be from the rest of the city.

The trusses are wood, colored with acrylic paint via gel plate printing. The background is encaustic wax and oil paint. The black circle in the middle is an acrylic mirror, but I used a torch to burn the back of the mirror. This gives it a pixelated sparkly look. The frame is dyed green and I again used my gel plate to print the truss design.
