This piece is inspired by the heavy steel truss bridges carrying railroads across Chicago's rivers. I'm often intrigued by what's beneath the bridges.
I used gel plate printing to print acrylic paint onto the bridge and the picture frame. The background is encaustic wax colored with various artist pigments, black ink, and even a bit of rust powder I made by rusting steel wool.
